Modular Trailers

Transporting modules requires experience. Experience we have.

Transporting modules is difficult and risky. If your site shuts down because of logistics delays, it costs you thousands of dollars per hour. You can’t afford costly mistakes.

You need a partner that knows the intricacies of this industry…details that include which carriers to use, when permits and escorts are needed, how to manage staging yards, how to coordinate with set crews, and much more.

At Stream Modular, we collaborate with a diverse range of clients, including modular manufacturers, general contractors, and developers.

Diverse experience

Not all modular projects are the same. With a vast experience set, we understand the nuances of different types of projects. Each project execution plan is tailored to your specific project.

Transporting mods: FAQs

What are new ways to transport modular buildings?
One of the best ways to transport mods is through hydraulic floats which are designed to transport commercial and residential modular units, particularly timber-framed modules. These are often called hydraulic trailers, or self loading / self unloading trailers, or carriers. When positioned underneath a modular unit, the entire deck of the trailer raises and/or lowers at a constant level, allowing for a modular unit to be lifted off of cribbage. This functionality allows modules to be loaded or unloaded without the use of cranes or other lifting equipment. These trailers are very helpful when your project requires a staging yard that does not have a crane. To learn more, check out our Trailer Dimensions Tool.
How are modular homes or modular building components moved?
Most likely, if you're transporting mods, pods, or panels you're facing some unique logistical challenges. Delivery timing must be impeccable. Deliveries must be made in sequence. The communication between factory, drivers, and set crews must be flawless. Transportation permits must be filed properly and on time. The best way to overcome these challenges is to partner with a logistics expert who understands the intricacies of transporting your precious cargo to reduce the risk of damage and delays.
How can a construction transportation and logistics company help with my shipping needs?
A transportation and logistics company such as Stream Modular, will help you understand all the elements at play, including time and access restraints. What are outriggers and why are they so important in transporting modules?
Outriggers are horizontal support structures on hydraulic trailers that are crucial in transporting modules. They help to distribute the weight of the module over a larger surface area and reduce stress on weaker parts of the structure, such as the run joists. This ensures the module's structural integrity is maintained and minimizes the risk of damage or breakage during transport.
What are the maximum module sizes for Stream Modular's hydraulic trailers?
Stream Modular's hydraulic trailers can transport modules up to 70' to 74' in length with a 2' - 4' overhang depending on the engineering of the modules. The maximum width is 16 feet, and the legal height range is 10' 9" - 11' 4" without permits for most locations. For modules exceeding 11' 4" in height, over height (OH) permits are required.
