We have hydraulic carriers!

FAQs

Stream Modular

What types of carriers or trailers does Stream Modular use for transporting large modules?

Transporting large modules requires very specialized carriers. It's important you have access to a trailer that you can raise and lower. That way, you can load and unload the module without using a crane or lift. We have a variety of different trailers that can do this such as hydraulic trailers, air floats, and other self-loading trailer options.

That’s why we’re building the largest fleet of Viking Carriers and Raja Trailers in the industry to make sure that your projects are never held up due to lack of proper carriers.

Do you offer services in my area?
Likely, yes! We serve factories all over the US, Canada, and Mexico. We are also experienced in port operations for modules or components that are imported from other countries
What do your services include?

At Stream Modular, we handle all the transportation and coordination required to move your components from the factory to the job site. First, we thoroughly scope the requirements of the project. Then, we create and present a proposal, which includes the plan for execution and the pricing. After that, we will work with your factory and the site crew to schedule the flow of transportation. Once the project begins, we offer real-time GPS tracking and constant communication with all key stakeholders to ensure we are responding to changes in the project schedule. Our goal is to deliver on time, everytime, so that the project stays on schedule and on budget.

We also can document the installation process with video so that we can create a commemorative video of the project's success. This video can be used to market your factory capabilities and win the next project.

What type of tracking do you offer?
We know visibility during transit offers peace of mind. So, we offer real-time GPS tracking that allows you to see the exact location of every shipment.

Transporting mods

What are new ways to transport modular buildings?
One of the best ways to transport mods is through hydraulic floats which are designed to transport commercial and residential modular units, particularly timber-framed modules. These are often called hydraulic trailers, or self loading / self unloading trailers, or carriers. When positioned underneath a modular unit, the entire deck of the trailer raises and/or lowers at a constant level, allowing for a modular unit to be lifted off of cribbage. This functionality allows modules to be loaded or unloaded without the use of cranes or other lifting equipment. These trailers are very helpful when your project requires a staging yard that does not have a crane. To learn more, check out our Trailer Dimensions Tool.
How are modular homes or modular building components moved?
Most likely, if you're transporting mods, pods, or panels you're facing some unique logistical challenges. Delivery timing must be impeccable. Deliveries must be made in sequence. The communication between factory, drivers, and set crews must be flawless. Transportation permits must be filed properly and on time. The best way to overcome these challenges is to partner with a logistics expert who understands the intricacies of transporting your precious cargo to reduce the risk of damage and delays.
How can a construction transportation and logistics company help with my shipping needs?
A transportation and logistics company such as Stream Modular, will help you understand all the elements at play, including time and access restraints. When choosing who should be your logistics partner it is important to choose a reputable provider who has the experience and knowledge to foresee any problems in order to mitigate any risks. At Stream, we have successfully transported thousands of shipments on large projects and know how to ensure your project is done on time and within budget.
What makes Stream Modular different from other logistics companies?
We specialize in modular construction logistics. We know that construction is in the midst of radical innovation and the old logistics solutions are not good enough. Which is one of the reasons we love modular construction. We are solution geeks, so we embrace the challenge of solving these new difficulties. Rather than being a jack of all trades, we have committed to being the master of modular construction logistics.
What are outriggers and why are they so important in transporting modules?
Outriggers are horizontal support structures on hydraulic trailers that are crucial in transporting modules. They help to distribute the weight of the module over a larger surface area and reduce stress on weaker parts of the structure, such as the run joists. This ensures the module's structural integrity is maintained and minimizes the risk of damage or breakage during transport.
What are the maximum module sizes for Stream Modular's hydraulic trailers?
Stream Modular's hydraulic trailers can transport modules up to 70' to 74' in length with a 2' - 4' overhang depending on the engineering of the modules. The maximum width is 16 feet, and the legal height range is 10' 9" - 11' 4" without permits for most locations. For modules exceeding 11' 4" in height, over height (OH) permits are required.

Do you recommend shipping panels vertically or stacked horizontally?
There are pros and cons to both methods. Shipping panels vertically usually puts less stress on the panels during transit. However, depending on the height of the panels when stacked vertically, there may be transport restrictions due to DOT regulations. Shipping horizontally stacked bunks of panels typically allows for larger panels. However, if they are not packaged or protected properly, horizontally stacked panels can be more vulnerable to damage during transit. Reach out to our experienced experts to discuss the optimal solution for your panels.
