Summary:
  • Our fleet of 25 hydraulic carriers have been custom-built to serve the modular construction industry.
  • Every inch of these trailers were thoughtfully designed to increase efficiency and safety when transporting large modules.
  • Reserve transport services with these hydraulic carriers for your next project.

Anyone within modular construction understands just how highly specialized it is. Much more complex than moving the traditional construction process inside a warehouse, the industry has built a system that is factory precise. And, we’re all constantly designing solutions to make the entire process more efficient and the modules more robust.

Now, with Stream Modular’s Factory Carrier Pool, we are meeting the industry where it is today and planning for the future — providing the highly specialized hydraulic carriers they need to transport their massive modules to the job site.

Our investment in the future of modular construction

In a move to alleviate the roadblocks that acquiring a fleet of hydraulic carriers puts up for factories, For efficient and cost-effective operations, large volumetric factories need trailers to be able to self-load modules off cribbing and self-unload modules off cribbing. This has created a massive demand for these specialized trailers. We have heard dozens of factories say they need more transport options. So, we decided to do something about it. That’s why Stream Modular is building the largest fleet of hydraulic carriers in the industry. We project to have 30-50 by the end of 2023.

Because hydraulic carriers aren’t commonly needed in other types of transportation, they’re harder to find, as well as harder to source trained drivers for. Not only does this lack of carriers slow down the logistics process, but rapidly growing factories may slow down their output to keep the chain running smoothly. Plus, owning and running your own fleet of specialized trailers is not only expensive to buy and maintain, but you have to know you have the consistent, heavy output to justify the costs.

Now with Stream Modular’s infusion of hydraulic carriers into the industry, modular factories can source the equipment they desperately need to keep up with increasing demand for transport.

The 3 key features of our hydraulic carriers

Designed to meet the demanding and highly specific needs of the modular construction industry, our fleet of hydraulic carriers is outfitted with these key features to ensure safe and successful transportation of modular construction projects.

1) Trailer outriggers for wide and stable transport

Trailer outriggers are a feature used to extend the width of a trailer, which, in this case, allow us to transport these wider modular buildings with more stability. Typically a carrier is only 8.5-feet wide, but, with the addition of heavy-duty steel outriggers, we can extend it out to 16-feet. This is an important feature because modules tend to be anywhere from 12 to 16-feet in width. With the added support of the outriggers, our hydraulic carriers are able to support the transported module better, create a safer ride for our driver, and cause less damage to the module while in transport.

2) Adjustable length for larger loads

Our fleet of hydraulic carriers can stretch up to 70 feet long. This custom feature will allow us to transport larger, oversized modules much more safely and easily. Plus, all that added length can even support a 4-foot overhang, allowing us to accommodate modules up to 74’ long.

“Modular manufacturers need specialty equipment,” explains Carson Holmquist, co-founder of Stream Modular. “Now with this new fleet of hydraulic carriers, we’re able to provide our modular clients with a specialized transport trailer that provides efficiency and module safety.”

3) The hydraulic lifting system

Our specially made hydraulic carriers have the ability to move their decks up and down by the use of 6 heavy-duty hydraulic jacks that can lift the deck of the trailer up 16” to load modules off cribbing and to offload modules back onto cribbing at staging yards. The hydraulics systems are critical for the safe loading and unloading of certain modules — particularly wood-framed modular structures which are more vulnerable to torsional forces when lifted by a crane.

Because steel modules are more rigid, you can easily lift them with a crane. But, crane rentals can be expensive. Plus, most staging yards do not have handling equipment and are not manned, which means these are extra costs you’d have to incur. However, hydraulic carriers allow the modules to be unloaded and reloaded by the truck driver without a crane, saving you time and money on logistics transportation.
