Stream Modular: 2023 Year in Review

2023 was a landmark year for Stream Modular, a dynamic spinoff from Stream Logistics, marking our foray into specialized transportation solutions for the offsite construction and modular industry. Our mission: accelerate the adoption of modular construction. Looking back, we want to take a moment to celebrate some of our greatest accomplishments that will pave the way for an even greater industry impact this year and beyond.

Stream Modular’s 2023 Innovations and Achievements

1) Launch of Stream Modular

Dedicating ourselves to the modular industry, we’ve established a team of specialists intensely focused on creating efficient transportation solutions. This gives us fast iteration cycles, so every project we manage is informed by our past experiences, making it even better than the previous project.

2) Custom trailer innovation

A standout achievement was designing a unique trailer with hydraulic jacks, enabling easy loading and unloading of modules without cranes. This innovation allows us to slide under modules stored on cribbing, raise the deck to load them, and then transport them seamlessly. We built 24 hydraulic carriers in 2023, and many more are coming in 2024.

3) Client expansion success

Doubling our initial target of 30, we partnered with 65 new clients involved in the production of pods, panels, or modules. 

4) Deep industry knowledge

Our singular focus led us to identify the core job-to-be-done: moving modules from factory production lines to job sites. This insight transcended mere transportation, encompassing a broader spectrum of modular construction needs. We continue to add new products and services that make the logistics process more efficient and effective.

5) Yard trailer development

Recognizing a gap in the market, we designed and built yard trailers with hydraulic functionality for in-factory module movement and storage. Two of these have been leased to modular factories, with more in production for the coming year. 

6) Staging yard management initiative

Last year we ventured into staging yard management for general contractors, handling tasks from property leasing to security. This process can be time-consuming and annoying for GCs, who have much better uses for that time. Our first project in CA was a resounding success, receiving high praise from our client. We will continue to build out these services in 2024 and beyond.

Key metrics and goals

• In 2023, we successfully shipped 1,052 3-D volumetric modules.
• Our ambitious target for 2024 is to transport 3,500 modules.

This past year has been a journey of groundbreaking achievements and growth.
