Autonomous Mod Trailers In the modular construction industry, there’s a class of transportation trailers called autonomous mod trailers. These trailers have the ability to autonomously load and off load modules on and off of cribbing. This is important because renting and operating a crane or material handling equipment can cost thousands of dollars per day, which can add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of a project. Benefit of Autonomous Mod Trailers The benefit of using autonomous trailers is that they can be operated by the truck driver, negating the need for a crane and additional labor. One of these types of trailers is Hydraulic Jack Trailer the hydraulic jack trailer. In this video, we’ll show you exactly how it works. Loading and Offloading with Hydraulic Jack Trailer This is how the loading and offloading works with a hydraulic jack trailer. The driver backs under the module, which is sitting on cribbing. Using the hydraulic jacks, the deck of the trailer is raised until the module is fully supported on the deck. Now you remove the cribbing and lower the hydraulic jacks until the deck is back at normal ride height. And that’s it. To offload the module, it would just be the reverse process. Drivers use the hydraulic jacks to raise the deck, and then you place the cribs underneath the mod. Using the hydraulic jack trailer is how a single driver can load and offload a module in under five minutes.
