When it comes to modular construction logistics, every minute counts. Stream Modular recently demonstrated this principle in action during a remarkable 48-hour operation in Maui, Hawaii, where our team successfully unloaded 110 modules from a barge for an affordable housing project. The following video shows how flawless planning, seamless execution, and our dedication to making modular logistics easy for our clients results in a successful project — sometimes under deadline!

Working in partnership with ProSet Modular, we faced a challenging timeline: just 48 hours to complete the entire unloading of 110 Factory OS/Harbinger modules from the delivery barge arriving at the pier in Maui. Through meticulous planning and round-the-clock execution, our team not only met this deadline but finished three hours ahead of schedule.
The operation began with extensive preparatory work. Understanding the unique challenges of working in Maui, we secured a nearby staging yard and implemented a 24/7 security patrol to ensure the safety of the modules. We equipped the yard with ModCribs for secure module storage and brought in our specialized equipment, including Stream Field Lift Pro™ column lifts and Stream Mod Mover Pro™ trailers.
A crucial element of our success was assembling the right team. We specifically recruited Maui’s most experienced drivers to handle the critical shuttle operations between the pier and staging yard. This local expertise proved invaluable in navigating the island’s unique logistical challenges.
The unloading process was a carefully orchestrated symphony of continuous movement. As stevedores worked to unload modules from the barge, our Stream Lift Pro™ column lifts precisely handled each unit. The Stream Mod Mover Pro™ trailers then transported the modules to their designated storage positions, where they were carefully placed onto ModCribs.

To maintain this momentum for 45 straight hours, we implemented a shift system that kept operations running smoothly around the clock. Each team handed off to the next with precision, ensuring no loss of efficiency during transitions. Throughout the process, we maintained strict sequencing and organization in the storage area, essential for the next phase of the project.
What made this operation particularly noteworthy wasn’t just the speed – it was the combination of efficiency and precision. Each of the 110 modules required careful handling and exact placement, yet our team maintained both pace and accuracy throughout the entire process. The fact that we completed the operation three hours ahead of schedule speaks to the effectiveness of our planning and execution.
The Maui project exemplifies Stream Modular’s approach to large-scale modular construction logistics. Thorough planning, specialized equipment, and experienced personnel can transform a challenging timeline into a successful operation. And, it showcases the role of efficient modular construction in addressing Hawaii’s affordable housing needs.
The success of this project goes beyond just meeting a deadline. It represents a significant step forward in proving the viability of modular construction for addressing housing challenges in remote locations. By streamlining the logistics of module delivery and installation, we’re helping make affordable housing projects more feasible and efficient.
For Stream Modular, this project wasn’t just about moving modules – it was about demonstrating our commitment to making modular construction.. With each successful modular transport, we remain focused on making modular construction logistics simpler, faster, and more reliable for our clients.
